The starting point of the design was the client’s wish to have a complete residence dedicated to long-term living, complete with a significant number of amenities. The design focuses on on-site features, from works areas to a private pool to a private gym. The central point is the primary residence, a 3-story, 3-bedroom, 5-bathroom, complete with a double-height living room, gym, large kitchen, and office.

Because the terrain is sloped, the main house is built into the ground, resulting in the entrance being on the first floor (level 0) and the opening up to the landscape on the ground floor (-1). The first floor houses the private spaces, the bedrooms. The entrance opens up into a large double-height space overlooking the bedroom, with direct views of the back yard.

The ground floor opens up into the backyard with the remaining units: the guest house, a 1-bedroom design, the covered pool, and the outdoor terrace. On the right side, a staircase leads to the ground floor. The backyard is designed as a single level with a fireplace in the middle, close to the outdoor kitchen.

The use of large glazed surfaces, along with a wooden finish on the facade and a single-slope roof results in a contemporary design. This design is then extended to the adjacent building, the guest house, pool house, and garage.

The house is divided functionally into the 3 floors. The ground floor is dedicated to the family spaces, living room, kitchen, office, and gym. The first floor contains the bedrooms and the master suite. The second floor contains a lounge space dedicated to visitors, as well as a wrap-around terrace.

The main house is built into the site, taking advantage of the level difference to create a unique space at the back of the house, while using a more subdued design in the front.

Two finishes are used a darker horizontal wood finish for the lower floors and natural wood vertical finish for the upper floors. This works to ground the design by creating a base and a top.

The single slope roof uses dark tiles to stay in the same contemporary lines as the rest of the design.

Glazing is used generously, considering that the house will be surrounded by the landscape and privacy is not an issue. Large sliding windows with dark frames, with clear or translucent glass provide a good connection with the outside.

The windows align in a grid, making for a very logical design.

The interior is kept simple, with wooden parquet and white walls, along with wooden detailing, in particular for the door frames and plinths. This works to create a home atmosphere, while not detracting from the landscape outside.

The spaces are generous, and the house has all the necessary amenities for modern living. Ample social space, private gym, and personal office. The same simple and contemporary modern design is used everywhere, for a coherent feel and look.
